Laser hair removal has became a popular choice for removing the excess of unwanted hair.

Traditional methods of hair removing such as shawing, tweezing, waxing or chemical hair removal give only temporary effects. Until recently electrolysis has been the only effective method. Unfortunately they are often painful and time – consuming. Scars, overcolouring, allergic reactions and in grooving hairs are the most common side effects of those kind of treatments. Laser emits an invisible light which penetrates the skin to the depth of 2 mm, without damaging it. The length of the wave emitted by the laser is 800 nm. It acts only on the surface so the body – functions are not affected. The laser emits a mild bean of rays, going inside a hair follicle, where hair growth originates, and destroying the root permanently. The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the laser light and converts it to the heat, which damages the follicle and destroys its ability to re-grow. The wavelength of 800 nm appear to be the right balance, providing enough absorption to effectively treat lighter hair while offering safety to darker skin types.

The very important part of the treatment is the way the skin is being cooled by the ChillTip, which cools your skin, protects it and make treatments more comfortable.

After first treatment usually about 40 – 60 % unwanted hair is removed permanently .After third treatment it is about 92%. Those which are left are lighter, more delicate or invisible. The exact number of required depends on various parameters. The most important of which are the localization of the area to be treated and gender. However it is necessary to foresee between 3 to 6 sessions.

Complication from laser hair removal are rare. Following the treatment you may experience some slight reddening or overcolouring, but this typically returns to normal after a short period of time usually few days.

Before scheduling laser hair removal you have a consultation to discuss the factors that determine your skin type, the condition of the skin and if the procedure is likely to work well for you. Those who are qualified for the procedure undergo a laser test. If the result of is satisfying you can undergo the procedure in 15-30 mins. If any doubts occur another laser test is done after a few days.

Before the procedure the skin should be washed, shaved, cleared of cream and make up. However ,waxing or tweezing the hair can lessen the effectiveness of your treatment. Any hair with some pigment in it can be treated. If you experience any discomfort during the treatment a topical anesthetic is available (EMLA).

Do not undergo the treatment in case of:

• Pregnancy;
• Very new suntan;
• Vulnerability to overcolouring;
• Avoid using creams with retinol, isotretinoine (1 month before the treatment);
• Taking some kinds of medicines or antibiotics;
• Avoid drinking herbs (2-3 weeks before the treatment);
• Avoid using peeling (1 week before the treatment);
• Avoid peel off creams (1 week before the treatment);
